In this book, That Day Was Very Sad: A Grief and Hope Book for Children, parents and counselors can guide children three to eight years old through a story they can connect to following a traumatic event.
A young child's world had been turned upside down by grief, and he or she is struggling to understand why sad things happen. As the child turns to God, God patiently answers each question. The reader (or listener) observes how the character's feelings gradually change from negative to positive, and discover that even when sad things happen, hope is good. That hope helps us let go of grief and trust that someday Jesus will fix our broken world. The author intentionally leaves the character unnamed and the sad event vague, encouraging a grief-stricken child to identify and relate to the character and story.
